Woolina and the No Birds, the animated feature known in Persian as Babaei Ghahreman, has won at the NZ Indie Film Festival in New Zealand.

According to FilmWay, the animation received the festival’s winning recognition, with the jury noting the quality of the film’s production and storytelling. NZ Indie Film Festival is an independent event that supports creative works from around the world, including feature films, shorts, documentaries and animation.

In the NORA VISION Programs catalogue, Woolina and the No Birds is presented as a completed 80-minute animated film produced in 2024. The project is available in Persian, Arabic, English, Russian and Turkish, with Chinese and English subtitle options.

The film follows Woolina, a young sheep who dreams of flying in a world where only birds are expected to pilot airplanes. Inspired by her hero Super Owl, Woolina and her friends work to enter a flight school and take part in a race that could change their future. The New Zealand recognition adds another international step for the family animation and highlights its universal message about ambition, courage and breaking limits.
