Jald, the short film directed by Ali Zaheri, has won the Non-English Short Film award at Milton Keynes International Film Festival in England.

According to FilmWay, the Iranian short competed against films from different countries and was selected by the jury as the winner of its category. The festival is an independent international event that presents films from around the world and supports cultural diversity, emerging filmmakers and creative independent cinema.

NORA VISION lists Jald as a completed 17-minute Persian-language short film with English subtitles. The film tells the story of an elderly father living in a nursing home after the loss of his son. As memory and reality begin to blur, he waits by the window for visits that exist only in his imagination, creating a tender portrait of grief, love and the bond between a parent and child.

The award strengthens the film’s international profile and points to the continuing visibility of Iranian short cinema in festivals that value intimate, character-driven storytelling.
